Christians United for Israel (CUFI) is presenting a weekend of pro-Israel activities in Northeastern Ohio, beginning Friday, October 26, 2012. Featured speakers include Ambassador (ret.) Yoram Ettinger, Executive Director of Second Thought US-Israel Initiative, and Colonel (ret.) John Somerville, Director of CUFI Midwest Region.
Ambassador Ettinger was formerly the Minister for Congressional Affairs at Israel’s embassy in Washington D.C. He was also Director of the Government Press Office in Jerusalem, and served as Israel’s Consul General in Houston, Texas.
Colonel Somerville served in the US Marine Corps for 30 years as an Infantry Officer and Intelligence Officer specializing in the Middle East.
The words of God to Abraham (Gen. 12:3) and the words in Paul's letter to the Romans (Rom. 15:27) form two strong pillars upon which the "Night to Honor Israel" is built and why we come together.
"We are here to introduce a new era in America – an era of unity, mutual respect, and lasting peace – an era when Christian and Jew stand together hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder, and announce to a hostile world that we are united in brotherhood. And we are here to say that it's time for the Jewish people to hear the voices of their friends loud and clear! It is time for us to speak up for Israel and it is time for us to stand up for Israel. Let our courage and conviction replace cowardice and complacency – and let that transformation occur today!"
This event is an expression of solidarity between Christians and Jews on behalf of Jerusalem, the State of Israel and the United States of America.
